Creating a new dataset

New datasets can only be created by administrators (those users that have been given administration rights). Administrators instantiate a new dataset using the dataset management form.

The dataset management form captures vital information about the dataset. Specifically, it includes fields to capture:

The name of the dataset

The name of the dataset should be a short word or phrase that identifies the nature of the loans that the resulting default risk model will be applied to. It is mandatory.

The description of the typical customers

The description of the typical customers is needed to fix an understanding of the data in the minds of the users. The description should contain as many specifics about customers as can be identified, such as their industry, their size, their maturity etc. It is mandatory.

The description of the typical transactions

The description of the typical transactions is needed to fix an understanding of the data in the minds of the users. The description should contain as many specifics about transactions as can be identified, such as their size and typical security arrangements. It is mandatory.

The definition of default

The definition of default MUST include ALL of the observable events that are deemed to be a default outcome, for example: bankruptcy, covenant breaches, documentation breaches, 90 days-past-due status on interest or principle repayments, etc. The default definition MUST include a statement about the time period over which the default event may occur. For example, if the model is intended to be predictive over a one year period from the date of the default risk assessment then default must be defined using a one year time horizon. The default definition is mandatory.
